English

Oral Language:
  • Facetime or video call family members and friends that you can’t be with at the moment.
  • Talk about some of the advantages/disadvantages of learning from home.
  • Good news movement (https://www.thegoodnewsmovement.com/category/good-news/)
  • Websites such as Pobble365 are fantastic because they share a new photo daily which provides lots of ideas for discussion.
Reading:
  • Read your library book that you have from school.
  • Revisit some of your favourite books that you have already read.
  • Local libraries provide ‘Borrow Box’ which allows you to access free books to read.
Writing:
  • Learn a new recipe from parent/guardian and complete a procedural writing to show how to make it.
  • Design a menu for a family dinner.
  • Write a letter of thanks to the people who are helping us at this time (doctors, nurses, drivers, supermarket workers, etc).
  • Start a diary about your daily life over the next few weeks. This will be helpful for the children to recount the activities the got up to when they come back to school.
Log onto ‘Literacy Shed’ and go to the story starters shed and write a story of your choice.
