Weight Take a selection of items from the kitchen cupboard. • Estimate which item is the heaviest/lightest • Weigh the items • Order them from the heaviest to the lightest • Find the total weight of the objects • Find the difference between the heaviest and the lightest object • Convert from grams to kg • Find something that is approximately 1kg. • Bake and measure out the ingredients. Change the quantities for different amounts of people.
Money Take a range toys or clothes and give each item a different price. • Order the items from most to least expensive. • If I wanted to buy 5 of an item. What would the total cost be? • Give a budget to redecorate a bedroom – look at the Ikea website and see what different items you could buy. Using a packet of 3/4/5 items e.g. cereal bars/ socks/ tshirts etc. • If a pack of 5 costs €7.50. How much would 1 cost? • Which is better value?
Time • Teach your child to tell the time. • Make a clock using a paper plate or go outside and use a Hula Hoop and 2 sticks. (one for the minute and one for the hour hand). You could use pieces of paper with the numbers 1-12 on them too. • Learn the days, months and seasons • Learn how to read the calendar • Look at magazines/newspapers – how long is your favourite programme on for? What time is the movie starting? What time will it be finished?

Multiplication war: You need: a deck of cards.
Each player pulls a card from the deck and places it face up on the table.
Both players multiply the number on each of the cards together.
Whoever gets the correct answer first keeps the card.
The player with the most cards at the end of the game wins.

Dice Dash: You need: dice, pencil, paper.
Each player rolls the dice 4 times
If it lands on the numbers 1,2 or 3 you get 57 points.
If it lands on 4 or 5 you get 139 points.
If it lands on 6 you get 1,283 points.
Add your total score.
The person with the highest score at the end wins.
