Our School is very fortunate to be involved with the Fighting Words Project, which is a creative writing experience for school children. A trip to a specially designed building in Behan Square near Croke Park brings great excitement. A writer and illustrator guide the writing, while the children offer ideas to develop a story which will be used to form the initial part of the project. The girls then work individually to continue the story with the help of qualified adults. Each student is given a copy of the collaborative work in book form and the writing process continues in school until the book is completed by each pupil in their own unique and creative style. Drawings and artwork are added by the girls to enhance the work, and opportunities are afforded to read out the stories for all to enjoy.
We really value the experience and are delighted to display the fabulous work in our school.
